The Methodist Council of Churches in the United States called on its representatives at the US Congress to practice pressure on the Israeli Authorities to stop their decision to shut down the facilities of the Islamic Charitable Society in Hebron.
The Israeli army carried repeated attacks against the society which fosters hundreds of orphans and runs several facilities in order to support thousands of families in need. It is located in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
The Methodist Council of Churches stated in a session which was held in New York that it slams and denounces the repeated army attacks against the society and the destruction of confiscation of its properties.

Sadly ironic that we just finished interviewing Rory O'Connor about his new book on right-wing radio hate mongers when we heard a murderous rant by Michael Reagan, son of Ronald Reagan, played and condemned on the Randi Rhodes show.
As we listened to the Reagan audio on Randi's program this week, we were reminded that all of this right-wing talk of killing, hate, and violence is being broadcast on the public airwaves and enriching the wealthy purveyors of on-air demagoguery. And remember, there are corporations who make a profit from these destructive words, as well as advertisers who support the degrading of the most basic of civilized standards.

The Civic Coalition for Jerusalem is calling for a ‘blacklist’ of corporations supporting the occupation of Jerusalem, and is asking activists all over the world to research companies in their own countries to go on the list: “We call on international solidarity to mobilise to support Jerusalemite Palestinians, by naming and shaming the companies and governments that support the occupation and who stand idly by while the occupying power rides roughshod over Palestinian rights. We call on solidarity to put Jerusalem at the heart of the campaign against the occupation. We call on the international community to answer the call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel to support Palestinian rights in Jerusalem.” Companies can be blacklisted in seconds using the online reporting system on the Coalition website, www.ccdprj.ps/stopexpulsion. The Coalition will then contact the company concerned to get clarification on their policy. With all the specter of violence around us, the foremost question of our time seems to be: how can terrorism be defeated? This billion dollar question however cannot be answered without understanding the rather complex dynamics of terrorism, its meaning to various groups, peoples and state authorities, its modi operandi, means or tools and its contributing factors.
In our earlier discussion, we have established that, as a technique of warfare, terrorism is used by specific people, group or state generally for understandable political purposes. Thus behind almost every terrorist act lurks a political problem. Terrorism purposely relies on brutal strikes against its enemies - objects of hatred, which may include civilians, government officials, symbolic persons or physical objects - to achieve a political effect. Sometimes their ruthless activity starts the vicious cycle of violence and more violence (attacks and counter-attacks) that help them to gain increasing support and even legitimacy of their act.

Just after winning the Democratic presidential nomination on 04 June 2008, Senator Barack Obama kneeled and crawled before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) gathering in Washington DC. He begged his audience that he will “do everything in his power” to unconditionally support Israel. It was a humiliating U-turn for millions of people.
AIPAC is not just a lobby like many lobbies in the U.S. AIPAC encompasses the multitude of the Jewish lobbies in the U.S. The pro-Israel Lobby is “a de facto agent for a foreign government” and enjoys tax exempt status no other foreign organisation enjoys. AIPAC is at the forefront of Major American Jewish Organizations entirely devoted to “pushing the U.S. into wars in the Middle East on behalf of Israel”. From the sixty years war on Palestinian people to the ongoing war on the Iraqi people, AIPAC is an anti-Arabs/anti-Muslims war propaganda machine. For some years, AIPAC has been fighting tooth and nail for an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran.
With about 100,000 wealthy members mostly from a single ethnic group (Jews), AIPAC wields a formidable force in American politics. “AIPAC’s success is due to its ability to reward legislators and congressional candidates who support its agenda, and punish those who challenge it”, write John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt (For more see: Mearsheimer, J. & Walt, S. The Israeli Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy, 2006). “Money is critical to U.S. elections (as the recent scandal over lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s various shady dealings reminds us), and AIPAC makes sure that its friends get strong financial support from the myriad pro-Israel political action committees. Those seen as hostile to Israel, on the other hand, can be sure that AIPAC will direct campaign contributions to their political opponents. AIPAC also organizes letter-writing campaigns and encourages newspaper editors to endorse pro-Israel candidates”, added Mearsheimer and Walt. Jewish money and Jewish votes are important factors.

The Friendswood Junior High principal who outraged some parents by allowing an Islamic group to make a 40-minute presentation to students last month is now off the job.
In a two-sentence statement sent late Wednesday, the school district said Robin Lowe "has accepted another administrative position effective immediately."
The news drew relief from some who were incensed by the May 22 presentation and concern from others who considered the assembly a good way for students in the predominantly Anglo Christian school to learn about other cultures.

There is great concern -- both within and outside of Barack Obama's campaign -- that the smear attacks suggesting that the Senator is, in fact, a Muslim, might have a lingering effect on the election. Obama himself has worked to debunk the emails, including during several prominent speeches.
Now, however, a group of politically active consultants are arguing that the issue is far more systemic than believed. DHOB, an independent consulting firm, released a statement on Tuesday morning drawing attention to a quirk in Hotmail's editing system that, they warn, could subconsciously be perpetuating the Obama-is-a-Muslim rumor.
According to Bill Hillsman, a partner at the firm, under Hotmail's system, if a user has the word Obama in his or her email, and then clicks the spell check button, the top suggested item that comes up is Osama -- as in, the leader of al Qaeda. This does hold not true for any other popular web email services, such as GMail, AOL, or Yahoo, which either don't offer replacement suggestions or suggest something other than Osama (like "Alabama").

Anew buzzword is arising from the network of Israeli think tanks and security-oriented academic departments bent on instigating a U.S. attack on Iran: "national suicide." The term describes a supposed Arab Muslim tradition of politically motivated suicide at the national, not just individual, level. Arab Muslim regimes have purportedly launched ruinous wars they could not have reasonably hoped to win, condemning their nations to destruction.The notion of an "irrational" and thus untrustworthy Iranian regime has already been widely discussed in the U.S. It is regularly invoked by Sen. John McCain on the stump. The term "national suicide" advances the notion and gives it a patina of academic respectability.
Israeli jurist and former Knesset member Amnon Rubinstein recently editorialized on "national suicide" in the Jerusalem Post. Citing Israeli army Lt. Col. Ari Bar Yossef, Rubinstein offered Saddam Hussein, Yasser Arafat and the Taliban in Afghanistan as exemplars of this new construct. Hussein could have avoided overthrow by giving U.N. arms inspectors free rein to search his country. Arafat, after the failure of the Camp David peace talks, could have continued negotiating but resorted to violence. Finally, the Taliban could have given up Osama bin Laden to the U.S. but instead invited self-destruction. All this because, per Rubinstein, these leaders prefer dying to "negotiating with infidels."

Amy Winehouse caught on video singing racist chant about 'gooks,' 'pakis'

A video showing British singer Amy Winehouse singing a racist chant and apparently surrounded by drug paraphernalia has been released by The News of The World tabloid.
In the home footage, filmed by the Grammy Award-winning singer's husband Blake Fielder-Civic, Winehouse sings a racist football chant to the tune of the British children's song 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'. In place of the conventional words, however, Winehouse sings with a friend: 'Blacks, pakis, gooks and nips.'
The clip shows a coffee table in the background upon which six cigarette lighters are resting, alongside a substance which looks like heroin on a foil.

The Islamic-Christian Front for Defending Jerusalem and its Holy Sites, stated on Monday that Israel is using the current scandals Olmert is facing as a cover-up for its continued illegal attacks against the occupied city of Jerusalem.
Dr. Hasan Khater, secretary-general of the Front, stated that Israel started the construction of 1420 housing units for Israeli settlers in a number of illegal settlements around the city, including the settlements of Har Homa (Jabal Abu Ghneim), Pisgat Zeev, and Bitar Elit.
He added that the Israeli Housing Ministry is targeting what is left of the Palestinian lands in the city and around it in order to build Jewish-only settlements.
Dr. Khater also said that Israel is expected to escalate its illegal settlements activities in the coming period as fundamental groups that support and encourage settlement construction and expansion are using the current scandal crisis which Israel’s Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, is facing.

A report that mosques in Los Angeles and San Diego are under federal surveillance has resurrected fears in the Muslim community about government monitoring and led two civil rights groups Wednesday to call for congressional hearings.The request for public hearings followed a newspaper article last week that cited FBI and Defense Department files pertaining to surveillance of mosques and Muslims in Southern California.
Corey Saylor, Washington spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the article in the San Diego Union-Tribune "has again raised concerns that our community is being watched."

(AP) Dunkin' Donuts said Wednesday it stopped running an online advertisement featuring Rachael Ray after complaints that a fringed black-and-white scarf that the celebrity chef wore in the ad offers symbolic support for Muslim extremism and terrorism.
The coffee and baked goods chain said the ad that began appearing online May 7 was pulled over the past weekend because "the possibility of misperception detracted from its original intention to promote our iced coffee."
In the spot, Ray wears the scarf around her neck and holds an iced coffee while standing in front of trees with pink blossoms.
Critics, including conservative commentator Michelle Malkin, complained that the scarf looked similar to the black-and-white checkered kaffiyeh, the traditional Palestinian scarf. Critics who fueled online complaints about the ad in blogs say such scarves have come to symbolize Muslim extremism and terrorism.

The most aggressive posturing and accusations against Iran, yet issued by Washington, signal the rapid closure of the window of opportunity for peace which opened up following the release of the US’ National Intelligence Estimate in December 07 concluding that there was no evidence of a nuclear weaponisation programme in Iran. This revelation which was concordant with the IAEA’s own repeated assessment over 5 years of intrusive inspections, and which had been held from publication by the Vice President Cheney for over a year with the aim of altering its key findings, put a spanner in the frightfully accelerating wheel to another war and a potential inferno in the Middle East and beyond.
However, it seems that the war camp led by Cheney have regained the lost ground and are furtively peddling for war before Bush leaves office next January. Bush’s speech to the Israeli Knesset, 15th May, evoking, once again, the spectre of the world war, likening Iran to 1938 pre-war Nazi Germany, and rebuking Obama’s willingness for dialogue with Iran on par with “appeasement of Hitler”, followed by the reporting of the Israeli army radio of behind the doors expressions of intent by the US to attack Iran before the end of his term, has sounded the alarm bells across a wide spectrum of political observers and analysts.
According to Col. Sam Gardiner, a specialist on military strategies, the raising of “message volume” of anti-Iran rhetoric points to the administration’s policy direction of ratcheting up towards war on Iran. This view accords with the New York Times’ revelation in April of Pentagon’s illegally shaping of political climate through the use of contracted or bribed military analysts, who “under the guise of objectivity”, act as a “Trojan Horse” for Bush administration’s agenda via media outlet.
