Foes of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tried to kill the hard-line leader with X-ray radiation during his recent visit to Italy, Iran’s former ambassador to Rome told Russian news service RIA Novosti on Monday.
Ex-ambassador Abolfazi Zohrevand said the rising concentration of high-intensity radiation at Ahmadinejad’s temporary residence in Rome earlier this month led to the claims.
"We found out that the radiation was higher than normal and its intensity was rapidly increasing," Zohrevand told Iran’s IRNA news agency. He added that several devices were used to avoid potential error in readings, but they all showed the same results.

Rome has been rocked by a string of revelations that both America under Jimmy Carter and Britain under James Callaghan were worried about the rise of the Communists in Italy, and were prepared to do something about it. British Cabinet papers
released in January under the 30 year rule show that the Foreign Office discussed in May 1976 the possibility of backing a right-wing coup if the Communists won the upcoming general election.
Now Steve Pieczenick, a former crisis negotiator at the US State Department, has revealed in a new book just available in Rome that he was sent from Washington the day after Moro's kidnap on March 16, 1978 to help the Italian government 'manage' the crisis. His first act was to order the distribution of a fake bulletin from the Red Brigades saying that Aldo Moro (left) had been killed.
Pieczenick says this was to prepare the Italian public for Moro's death, and to warn the terrorists that the government would not negotiate to get him back. (Italian governments, it should be noted, had no reservation about bargaining with the terrorists over kidnappings on subsequent occasions.)

KABUL, June 28 (Reuters) - Afghan authorities have discovered mass graves containing the bodies of ex-President Mohammad Daud Khan, family members and aides, who were killed in a Soviet-backed coup three decades ago, his grandson said.
"Two mass graves, one containing 16 bodies and the other 12, were found. We recognised by their shoes and clothes that the graves belonged to the deceased Daud Khan, his family and cabinet members," his grandson Mahmoud Ghazi Daud told reporters on Saturday.
He did not give further details on the identification process or provide more details on the discovery.

TEHRAN,Iran (AP) — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday accused the United States of plotting to kidnap and assassinate him during a visit this year to Iraq, state media reported.
The hardline president told a meeting of clerics in the central city of Qom that Iran's "enemies" planned to kill him when he went to Baghdad in March, according to the president's Web site. Iranian leaders usually use the term "enemies" to refer to Western nations and the United States in particular.
The report on the presidential Web site did not specify the United States as the source of the plot. But state television reported that Ahmadinejad had "unveiled a shocking story" — that "Americans had intended to kidnap him during his trip to Iraq."

Livni blasts culture of corruption in Israeli leadership

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said Wednesday that Israel's leaders should be bound by the state's values and morals, referring to an ongoing corruption investigation currently underway against fellow Kadima Party member and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. "I find it unacceptable that whatever is not criminal is tolerable," Livni said at a conference held by the Movement for Quality Government in Jerusalem.
Livni added that a system of socials conventions must be established, and that any elected politician who breaks them will be pay the price.
Speaking in Jerusalem at a memorial service for David Raziel, the commander of Etzel - the militant Zionist group that operated in Palestine between 1931 and 1948, Livni said: "The state has a vision and values that obligate both its citizens and its leaders. Before we can a light onto others, it is only fitting that we work toward showing the light inside our home."

Turkish newspaper reveals Maliki’s wait-game
The circus of contradictory statement about the Iraq - U.S. agreement continued today,. Ignoring the public opinion, the parliament, and even his boss Maliki, Zebari told the CNN that the agreement will be signed at the end of next month.
For sure, Zebari’s enthusiasm represents the Kurdish position, which according to anonymous Iraqi official on Awan: “Is the Iraqi government’s weakest link”.
The Kurdish representative in the negotiations with the Americans was pushing forward to sign the agreement with further details, accepting the American terms of the agreement.
Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyat [via alriyadh] revealed why Maliki is playing a time game and why the Kurds want to sign the agreement as soon as possible:

If there is a President Obama come next Jan. 20, normal folks better brace for what the right-wing crazies have in mind. Because it's becoming clear that they are winding themselves up now for a fresh spate of violence if Obama wins. You can find the signs in the things they're saying now, both on Internet forums and in the things they say when they think no one is listening. For instance, read some of the details emerging from that militia bust in Pennsylvania that the media have been studiously ignoring. To wit:
Bradley T. Kahle, 60, of Troutville, was one of five people arrested in last weekend's sweep. He told undercover agents he hoped Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama would be killed if they were elected president, and that he would shoot judicial and law enforcement officials if he became terminally ill, according to an affidavit of probable cause made public Tuesday.
"Kahle said words to the effect of, that 'if Hillary Clinton, or Barack Obama, get elected, hopefully they will get assassinated, if not they will disarm the country and we will have a civil war,'" the affidavit stated.
The same man also told authorities he planned to visit Pittsburgh so he could get on top of a high rise and start shooting black people. And of course, the judge let him go on bail. Would I be crazy to suspect that if he were a Muslim talking about shooting white people from a high rise and hoping John McCain would get killed, no judge on earth would let him go?
In any event, a pattern is already developing, ranging from the Klan fellows who promise that Obama will be shot to the white supremacists who are actually rooting for him to win because they're certain he will fail. We're hearing a lot of language from the racist and "Patriot" right indicating that they expect a Democratic president to enact policies (particularly regarding gun control) that will inspire "civil war." Which means they are looking for excuses to act out.

Consider that Arizona Congresswoman Karen Johnson, who has called attention to the research of physics professor Steven Jones and architect Richard Gage, has called for a new 9/11 investigation. The list goes on and on…
However, Congress nor any other government body aren’t likely to take action. But through the NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative the voters of New York City can create the conditions that would lead to the investigation which as many as 84 million Americans desire, according to a CBS/NY Times poll, for the purpose of revealing the mountain of information which was never addressed by the government’s own investigation as well as revealing the many shortcomings and contradictions that exist.
As many as 10,000 NYC voters have already signed the petition to create this public referendum. Many 9/11 family members and first responders also support this campaign. Furthermore, former Naval officer and NSA analyst turned syndicated investigative reporter, Wayne Madsen, has recently voiced his support, stating many current and retired intelligence professionals as well as members of foreign intelligence agencies would testify what they know about 9/11 in the venue provided by this new investigation.

(WMR) -- One of the over 120 Israeli "art students" who cased federal office buildings and military bases during a year and a half before the 9/11 attacks has revealed details of her "assignment" in the United States to a WMR source.
The former art student, who is now assigned to work with a non-governmental organization (NGO) in South Africa on research on violent crime against South African whites by blacks, said she was first assigned to work at an Israeli-owned shopping mall kiosk in Orange County, California, in early 2001 to "brush up on her American English language skills."
From California the young Israeli woman was transferred to Chicago and then to Houston, where she worked in an office close to the sprawling port facility. Her "cover" was as an accountant for an Israeli intelligence front company involved in the shipping business. It should be noted that former CIA Southeast Region Station Chief Roland V. Carnaby, shot to death on April 29 by two Houston police officers, was known to have been concerned about the lack of security at the port of Houston, was monitoring the activities of Israeli intelligence in the greater Houston area, and was known to have clashed with the Department of Homeland Security over its lack of interest in providing security for the Port of Houston.
After her stint in Houston, the Israeli art student was transferred to New York City for a two-week "holiday." However, she and her group were ordered by their superiors to be "out of the city" on September 11, 2001.

WASHINGTON - The shooting of Robert F. Kennedy is widely remembered as part of the wrenching domestic turbulence of the 1960s. But some scholars are beginning to see it as something quite different yet no less significant: America's first taste of the political violence of the Middle East.
Sirhan Sirhan, the young Palestinian-American who shot Kennedy, made the attack on the first anniversary of the Six-Day War in Israel. In his private writings, he had demonstrated anger over Kennedy's positions favoring Israel over the Palestinian cause.
"I thought of it as an act of violence motivated by hatred of Israel and of anybody who supported Israel," said Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard law professor who had worked on Kennedy's campaign as a volunteer adviser on gun-control policy. "It was in some ways the beginning of Islamic terrorism in America. It was the first shot. A lot of us didn't recognize it at the time."
Dershowitz said he came to fully understand the significance of the assassination when he learned that Sirhan had targeted others seen as pro-Israel. About one year after Kennedy's death, former United Nations ambassador Arthur Goldberg - for whom Dershowitz had clerked on the Supreme Court and with whom he shared a fervent Zionism - told Dershowitz that Sirhan had identified Goldberg as a potential target, too.

Barry has been trying to shake off Hillary and pivot for quite a long time now, but she has managed to keep her teeth in his ankle and raise serious doubts about his potency.

A controversial performance art exhibit titled "The Assassination of Hillary Clinton/The Assassination of Barack Obama," was shut down by police in Midtown Manhattan this morning and the artist was interviewed by police and released without charge.
The Boston-born performance artist, Yazmany Arboleda, set up his exhibition at a vacant storefront and wrote "The Assassination of Hillary Clinton/The Assassination of Barack Obama," in white stenciled letters on the front window.
NYPD officers and Secret Service agents quickly shut down the exhibition.

If I were Nuri al-Maliki, I'd be more than a little concerned that George Bush is starting to draw lessons from the Vietnam War for the current conflict in Iraq. In the early part of the Vietnam War Ngo Dinh Diem was "our man in Saigon" but by late '62 he was viewed as ineffective by many in the U.S. and a liability by the White House, more or less the way Maliki is now. Diem's fate has important health implications for Maliki. The White House had him murdered.
It is a rare thing to actually hear a U.S. President actually admit to participation in murder, but that is eactly what President Lyndon Johnson does in a very frank 1966 discussion with Eugene Carthy:

The lead story tonight - my "lede," as we spell it here - should have been about the remarkable fact that a black man has been nominated by a major party to lead a developed Western nation for the first time in the history of the world. A man - in whose lifetime people with his shade of skin were denied the right to vote and to use public accommodations - who is now on the cusp of the presidency. It says something good about America, and I would like to have been able to dwell on it.
But no. Once again, it's all about Hillary Clinton, who delivered the most abrasive, self-absorbed, selfish, delusional, emasculating and extortionate political speech I've heard in a long time. And I've left out some adjectives, just to be polite.
Here's an interesting point for you. Barack Obama's speech, which featured a long and gracious nod to Clinton toward the beginning, was posted on various websites as early as 8:10pm East coast time. That means that Clinton - who didn't start speaking until 9:31pm, noticeably missing her introductory cue - and her staff had more than an hour to read Obama's speech and see that he was going to be more than kind to her.

Hillary Rodham Clinton has told congressional colleagues she would be open to becoming Barack Obama's vice presidential nominee, saying she would consider it if it would help Democrats win the White House.
Clinton, a New York senator, made the comment on a conference call with other New York lawmakers Tuesday, according a participant on the call.
The senator's remarks came in response to a question from Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez who said she believed the best way for Obama to win over key voting blocs, including Hispanics, would be for him to choose Clinton as his running mate.
