Congressman Wexler Statement on the FISA “Compromise”: Our civil rights comprimised

Persons immune from lawsuits include "Anyone" who "provid[ed] assistance to an element of the intelligence community . . . in connection with intelligence activity involving communications that was (i) authorized by the President during the period beginning on September 11, 2001, and ending on January 17, 2007 and (ii) designed to prevent or detect a terrorist attack, or activities in preparation of a terrorist attack, against the United States and (B) the subject of a written request or directive . . . indicating that the activity was (i) authorized by the President; and (ii) determined to be lawful."

Bundling

Here it is. The final indignity. Funding for endless war AND etching out the 4th Amendment will be combined into the same bill to force enough compliance from Bush Dogs to get this bill passed. "By any means necessary" for Hoyer and his corporate lobbying buddies.

The House Rules Committee is
meeting at this hour on the "FISA Amedments Act." Later today, they'll be meeting on a technical fix that allows them to waive PAYGO rules and waive consideration of a bill within 24 hours of its rules being set.

The plan is to put the two together.

--MORE--

Ed note:  The "comprimise" bill says, if the president says it's legal, it's legal, regardless of what the law says and the Constitution says. This bill paves the way for the next world dictator.

Demented and sick...

(Anonymous)
I can't believe this is happening...? My God..I am sick at heart...

profnasty sez

(Anonymous)
There is no statute of limitations for murder. Similarly criminal acts of torture ought not be forgiven. The Prez may pardon, but only on an individual basis. That is My decision. Indict Bush/Cheney NOW!

predictable

(Anonymous)
This is totally predictable....our "rogue" government now gives itself amnesty for war crimes. Ironic after the execution of Sadam for the deaths of 300 Iraqis, considering the US has killed over 1 million and possibly 2 million Iraqis on Bushes watch.(Sanctions and military actions included). We have war criminals for a government, yet they wanna lecture the rest of the world about morals and human rights. Americans are blind for the most part, but the rest of the planet sees the USA for the hypocrite it is.

Amnesty agreement is fraud

(Anonymous)
Adverb/Verb/Adjective/Pronoun.....that is all that is written in this document, which means it is FRAUD. There are no NOUNS, therefore there are no FACTS or even SUBJECT MATTER, therefore go ahead and sue everyone involved with intelligence or Iraq or Afghanistan.
There is a wonderful Amnesty written by David-Wynn Miller, which tells nothing but the TRUTH, but if you receive one, it means your life is over within 45 days if you do not stop and correct your behaviour. I know, I have used it, and it works perfectly, especially when the prosecution has no idea what to do with this language.
This amnesty by George Bush is naught but a page of lies!!!

war criminals forgiving themselves

(Anonymous)
these american war criminals such as george bush, dick cheney, john yoo, condileza rice, halliburton oil, kbr, blackwater usa and more that names are hard to get...are going to forgive themselves for murder, airforce collateral damage, torture, lies, stealing, and so on.

it is time that the world address the issues of war crimes such as in vietnam, korea, most countries in the mideast even by proxy governments that the united states of america commit in the name of freedom and democracy which does not even exist in the united states of america. america needs war to keep it's economy going and to make the rich..richer.

even if the prior administration of iraq killed people, america was guilty of interference such as in getting the kurds to revolt. plus america has killed 10 times as many themselves and will continue to kill to possess base and landing rights and to get to the oil supply.

the lies of other countries having or using wmd when it is really america that has used them on the mideast plus their own military stationed there.

congress can pass all the laws it wants, the president can sign it, however it only confirms guilt when they do. otherwise, why bother?

not suprised
